ABOUT HIGHLAND LAKES HAVEN
We are Highland Lakes Haven, a 501c3 organization located in Marble Falls, Texas. Our #1 focus is providing shelter, food, job training, and basic essentials for individuals, students, and families who find themselves homeless or in need of immediate life-sustaining assistance.
As the president of the organization, I first became alarmingly aware of these needs one day when my wife and I witnessed a couple who was living in their car on a campground in Marble Falls. Immediately, we knew that we needed to do something. So we did.
With the help of the Society of St. Vincent dePaul, we were able to put the family up in a local hotel for a few days so the couple could at least get ready to start their new jobs...but I knew deep down in my heart that it wasn't going to be enough. I knew they would need more help. Hence, the burden to not only help them, but to help others like them was upon me.
Something needed to be done. And so here we are today, as Highland Lakes Haven.
With that being said, currently, we have four board members and are in need of volunteers. We know that it takes a team effort to bring forth a successful outcome for everyone in need.
We are also looking for financial donors and partners to assist with Phase One & Phase Two. This is what we call our building and transitional phases. They consist of funding and constructing the building, staffing, and helping individuals, students, and families find employment, temporary housing, gain financial assistance, or just figure out what the next stage in life is.
Through our organization, we will offer housing and financial assistance, interview job training, life skills, and meals. We will also have medical and dental resources provided for those who need it. Here, at Highland Lakes Haven, we understand that having a roof over their heads is what people need, but we've also discovered that they need even more. And that is what we will provide.
